The WOW Factor: Participant Mick Shares His Story

Mick Behan, 44, works in project management and joined our Noosa Sand n Surf program in 2021.

How did you first hear about WOW?

I saw a Facebook advertisement that caught my attention.

What motivated you to sign up for a WOW program?

I’d just started learning to surf, so the WOW programmed looked like a good program to join to get some more surfing experience.

What surprised you most about a WOW program?

Will (WOW facilitator) told me about the sand sessions during the initial phone call, so I was aware that this was part of the program. I was surprised by how much I learned from these sessions.

What did you learn about yourself during a WOW program?

I learnt that my life is pretty good, and I have a lot to be grateful for.

What did you learn about mental health during the program?

I learnt that mental health comes in many forms and it’s not easy to recognise in people.

I feel very fortunate to be able to participate in the program. I think most people, regardless of their mental health state would get benefits from the program.

We’re all about bringing the WOW factor to mental health, so keep an eye out for these magic case studies in the future as we dive deep into what makes people tick, and the essence of their experience with WOW. If you'd like to share your story, drop us a line!
