Walk + Talk
Therapy
Mental health care should be as dynamic and adaptable as the people it serves.
That's why we've launched the Walk + Talk program, designed to bring the therapeutic benefits of nature and movement into mental health support. Led by our team of experienced clinicians, these 1:1 sessions are conducted outdoors, offering a refreshing alternative to traditional clinical settings.

Empowering Mental Health Through Connection and Movement in Nature
Walk + Talk provides an innovative alternative to traditional one on one therapy sessions, taking your standard 50 minute therapy session to the outdoors . It combines the therapeutic benefits of movement, nature, and evidence based psychological treatment.
Our sessions take place outdoors in beautiful locations across Sydney (currently Maroubra Beach, with more locations to come), offering a refreshing way to support your mental health.
During 1:1 sessions, you’ll walk alongside a qualified mental health clinician, fostering a supportive, relaxed environment where you can talk freely and engage in therapeutic support all while benefiting from the calming and grounding effects of being outdoors.
With sessions tailored to your needs and eligible to use your Medicare rebates under the Better Access Initiative,
Walk + Talk Therapy is designed to make mental health care accessible, engaging, and personalised.
What is Walk + Talk?
You can choose to book your initial appointment whenever you like using the booking section below as the first step.
This first appointment will be conducted online via video call and give you the chance to ask any questions and get to know your clinician and what to expect prior to meeting them in the great outdoors.
If you would like to claim medicare rebates for your session you can visit your GP and speak to them about if you are eligible for a Mental Health Care Plan. If you are they will complete a plan and provide you with a referral to ‘Walk and Talk Psychologist at Waves of Wellness’, if you already have a referral from within the last 12 months you can use this, it doesn’t need to be addressed to us! As long as this referral is dated prior to the date of your first session you can claim the rebate.
If you do not wish to use the Medicare rebate you can choose to access sessions privately or claim through your health insurer if you have appropriate cover.

“When you listen to someone, you must hear the emotion behind their words, not just the words themselves.” – Krishnamurti (1998).
Many people encounter challenges in life, feeling unable to move forward due to unrecognized patterns, assumptions, or unresolved experiences. I'm here to support you if you’re seeking clarity, self-awareness, and tools to overcome these obstacles. With over ten years of experience as a clinical psychologist, I specialize in helping individuals build resilience, nurture emotional well-being, and thrive in all areas of life, including relationships, personal growth, and creativity.
My approach combines evidence-based techniques with a compassionate, tailored perspective. I create a safe, supportive, and nonjudgmental environment where we can explore the deeper dynamics of your emotions, thoughts, and behaviours. Together, we will identify the influences of your unconscious mind and develop practical strategies for meaningful change. Whether you’re facing anxiety, trauma, emotional regulation challenges, or seeking personal growth, my goal is to empower you to build healthier relationships and lead a more fulfilling life.

A Walk + Talk session takes place in natural settings. Currently our sessions are offered walking along the path near Maroubra beach and walking on the sand of the beach. Each route is chosen collaboratively with your therapist to maximise the benefits of the session, maintain confidentiality to the best possible degree and prioritise your physical comfort. Sessions do not need to be walking the entire time and can be sitting on the sand or a quiet seat along the walk.
-
Our sessions follow the best practice mental health session format running for 50 minutes.
-
Medicare allows you to claim up to 10 sessions per calendar year under a Mental Health Care Plan. If your GP determines that you are eligible for a Mental Health Care Plan you will initially be referred for 6 sessions and then revisit your GP to be re-referred for an additional 4 sessions.

Walk + Talk can address a wide range of mental health issues, including but not limited to stress, burnout, anxiety, depression, difficulties in relationships and with emotion regulation. It's particularly effective for those who feel therapy outside would be more effective for them.

What is the cancellation policy?
We ask that you prioritise booked appointments and your own therapy, we require 48 hours notice if you need to cancel or change your appointment, this allows us to offer the session to others who are on the waitlist to access the service. No-shows and sessions cancelled within this 48 hour period will be charged the full session fee, and no Medicare rebate will be available.
-
Don’t worry your session still goes ahead! Depending on the severity of the weather you and your clinician may decide to move the session to an undercover private location nearby, or move the session online.
-
Absolutely not! You can speak to your clinician about sitting on the sand or a nearby seat if you would prefer.
-
In your first session, your therapist will go over what you would like to do if this happens (many people opt to introduce their therapist as a friend, but it's totally up to you!), ensuring you're comfortable with whatever comes your way. Our sessions are in quiet spots, and our therapists dress casually with no WOW branding or logos. This is part of how we prioritise your confidentiality.
-
Our scenic location has a designated meet-up spot that your clinician will discuss with you in your first online session to make sure you are set up with everything you need to know.
-
Your first consultation is always an online session to make sure you have the chance to meet your clinician first and discuss the plan for meeting. This also gives your clinician a chance to make sure that Walk + Talk is appropriate for you and your goals.
