Projence's 10th Anniversary Makes Waves For WOW
In February 2022 we were honoured to attend the celebration for Projence's 10th (belated) anniversary at Merewether Surfhouse in Newcastle.
Projence’s family, staff, clients and colleagues came from near and far to celebrate and make the night a huge success.
As part of the event, Projence partnered with WOW to hold a Charity Auction raising much-needed funds for our mental health Surf Therapy programs. Some incredible items and experiences were auctioned off, including a custom made 3P surfboard from former professional surfer Paul Parkes, a personal surf session with legendary four time world surfing champion Mark Richards, and an extreme adrenaline junkie joy flight with Matt Hall, former Royal Australian Air Force fighter pilot and current Red Bull Air Race World Champion.

This event raised over $37,000. We couldn't be more grateful for the support from the wonderful people at Projence - the funds raised can help up to 74 people access our surf therapy programs, keeping them free for people doing it tough in our community.

During the event, one of our participants, Karren, shared her story with everyone in the room. We met Karren in 2021 during our COVID-Response Program at Nobbys Beach and she quickly became a valued member of the group, sharing her own struggles with mental health and helping others be vulnerable too. Karren took to the stage with lead facilitator Luke in an honest, emotional and uplifting Q&A. Let’s just say there wasn’t a dry eye in the house!
